ReadMD's local file workflows need reliable link checks, current workspace search and reviewable AI writes without another editor toolbar. This candidate shares bounded Rust document intelligence across the existing repair report, native VS Code Problems/links/Quick Pick and five new MCP tools.
MCP edits preview by default, require byte revision and explicit confirmation before committing, preserve encoding and untouched line endings, and retain bounded application recovery history. Conflicts and ambiguous matches stop the write. VS Code refreshes native Problems and Wiki links when external programs change files, discarding stale inspections.
The website restores six scroll-controlled recordings and shared component motion in the existing Apple layout, with reverse seeking, narrow layouts, dark mode, poster fallback and reduced-motion/no-JavaScript access. Version and download metadata distinguish the published release from the unpublished candidate. Offline builds use existing media; optional WebM derivatives remain in ignored dist only.
Validation: local Rust suite 1,875 passed / 3 ignored plus 116 native/system tests; 12 xtask tests; 95 Node tests; desktop browser suite 298 passed / 31 conditional skips; seven real WebView2 portable flows; 14 actual installed VSIX Extension Host flows; 700-document MCP load and competing writers; 44 real Edge motion cases with WebM and the same 44 with MP4; 100 layout/component checks across all 50 website pages. Windows test WebKit could not decode the WebM and is not claimed as passing. Candidate boundaries are tracked in docs/reviews/readmd-v005-upgrade-2026-10-07.md.
All 10 required CI jobs passed for
7a310dbe: Windows/Linux/macOS Intel/macOS ARM64 builds, Windows/Linux kernel tests, frontend gates, desktop/mobile UI quality, VS Code/MCP plus actual Chrome scroll-video verification, and website build. Release publication and site deployment remain skipped for this draft PR.Release preparation only. This PR does not merge main, create/move release tags or publish V0.0.5. Public download links remain pinned to V0.0.4. Incremental 2K recordings and their production files stay local and are excluded from this software PR.
