In object detection, the Intersection over Union (IoU) metric is widely used to determine if two objects from different masks represent the same entity. The literature typically uses a threshold of 0.5: if IoU ≥ 0.5, the objects are considered a match (True Positive).
When you increase the IoU threshold, some objects previously matched at a lower threshold may no longer be considered the same. Each of these objects is then counted as both a False Positive (in one mask) and a False Negative (in the other). In the visualization, these objects are displayed using cyan or royal blue to distinguish them from other cases.
