There was a request for a third Steward. A Steward needs to be a long-time core developer. The group of Stewarts need to not all belong to the same single company. The only possible candidate seems to be Kristian Nielsen, who has been a core MariaDB developer as long as Monty and Sanja and one year longer than Serg, and how is not affiliated with MariaDB Corporation. Here I have the same answer as PR #9:
MariaDB Foundation CEO casting the decisive vote is enough for me. I think the number of stewards should be minimal (I'd think we only really need one anyway). With 3, there would be no point in having the rest of the council.

@knielsen, thanks. I understand why you're doing it, but I think it's unnecessary. A "steward" is somebody who cannot be a maintainer, but still should participate in server-wide decisions. Basically it was created for Monty. To a lesser degree for me, as I can happily be a maintainer. But you're already a maintainer so, in my opinion, you don't need to become "knows about the server but cannot be bothered to maintain any part of it" |
