[ Question ] Is this easy to extend to get mailing address info from contact?

Thank you for sharing your work! I love how fast and responsive the picker is as tested in example under iOS! It seems perfect if you need a contact's phone or email.

I need cross-platform Android / iOS. I briefly looked at the iOS and Android native code.

Question: Would you expect this to be easy to extend to get the mailing address info for both Android and iOS contact? For iOS it looks like a matter of adding more addressbook keys.

Have any forks done this already?

I have stayed away from react-native-contacts because the readme indicated it was slow?

Hey @esutton, you're correct with iOS and I just reviewed the Android docs and our source code and it would be easy enough to retrieve any and all contact information.
This libraries initial intention was barebones just to retrieve name, email, and phone for a project we were working on.
Ideally this would need to be extended to retrieve an array for each field in contacts, for which there is a pending pull request for the current supported fields on iOS #9. I think the best course of action would be to replicate #9 functionality on android and from there extend both native modules to support additional contact fields.
As I'm sure is already painfully obvious by the lack of activity and updates from myself and the other contributors, we don't have to time to extend this library 😫 . But we'd welcome pull requests that support both android and iOS.

I had a brief look at the source code of the react-native-contacts library but have not attempted to run it myself so can't comment on the performance issue mentioned, but I'd imagine if we extended this library to retrieve all contact info that we may run into the same issue due to the similarities, but that's purely speculation.

Thanks @brycepavey this is good to know. I am trying to find the least amount of work for my team of one.

I am weighing the work required t use react-native-contacts and build my own contacts ListView picker,

versus using react-native-contacts-wrapper, extending it to get all fields on iOS and Android, and creating a form to display the selected contact info.

@esutton what was your ultimate solution to this? I ran into this as well. I'll probably end up making some non-native-looking UI and use react-native-contacts. :'(

After seeing the amount of code in that PR, it might be easier to wrap react-native-contacts with the native UI stuff from this lib.

@corysimmons I made my own contacts database and UI that is not connected to the OS platform contacts.

I wish I had spent more time on getting a solution that I could use with both Android and iOS device's contacts. I expect that is what any app user expects.

Maybe something here might be better or newer solution?
