A stylesheet reference the rewrite does not recognise would 404 on a static host with no signal, so the script now exits non-zero instead of reporting success. The directory walk uses the string form of recursive readdir, which already yields paths relative to build/. The server test checks that a prefixed stylesheet is served as CSS with the immutable cache policy, not just that its body is unchanged.
