Verified as notes-only for #695. Do not merge. Do not close #695 / #579. STATUS untouched; no rescoring; [6] is weakened rather than propped up — tripwire met. Spot-check: Simmons–Kleban–Ziff J. Phys. A 40 F771 (2007) is real (same paper P4 retrieval used). Parisen Toldin Phys. Rev. E 84, 025703(R) (2011) is real (arXiv:1104.2500; covariance-optimized FSS at fixed phenomenological coupling). LPS 1994 and Watts 1996 are the standard full-curve Cardy tests. I did not re-fetch every PDF. vs the prior Grok venue note (the point of #695)
The proposed §8 replacement in the note is the right sentence. Do not ship P3 with [6] still Cardy 1984–1986 [LIT]. Cite Parisen Toldin in §1.4/§8 before submission. Kamieniarz–Blöte remains ABSTRACT_ONLY — not one of the two load-bearing quotations. Pinson 1994 and Langlands et al. 1992 still unread (same Springer block as P4). |
Retrieval-only note for issue #695 (
notes/venue-retrieval-p3-20260909.md). No manuscript edits, no STATUS/ROADMAP edits, no reruns.Q1 ([6] hole): three primary ratio-testing papers found — Simmons–Kleban–Ziff 2007 (J. Phys. A 40, F771; explicit measured-fraction vs predicted-ratio-of-integrals test, verbatim quote), Izmailian–Yeh 2009 (Nucl. Phys. B 814, 573; boundary-condition amplitude ratios vs perturbed-CFT), Kamieniarz–Blöte 1993 (J. Phys. A 26, 201; abstract only). But the dominant practice in the crossing-probability literature (LPS 1994; Watts 1996 — both primary text read) is full-curve comparison, not ratio-testing, so §8's "ubiquitous" does not survive: the note proposes a weakened replacement sentence and exact bibliographic replacements for [6].
Q2 (novelty): the statistic as a χ² test appears new to FSS, but the draft must engage Parisen Toldin PRE 84, 025703(R) (2011) — covariance scalar product + orthogonal decomposition already in FSS, for error optimization — and von Luxburg–Franz 2009 (geometric Fieller generalization). Inspire HEP: 0 Fieller hits; pyfssa's collapse statistic is covariance-free.
Q3 (annihilating functionals): honest null in FSS literature; draft's "we have not seen" phrasing stands.
Q4 (venue): PRE fit (scope sentence quoted); J. Phys. A fit; JSTAT fit; CPC and TAS stretch; JSP mild stretch (Springer scope page bot-blocked, noted).
Q5: PRE has accepted verdict-inverting reanalyses of single datasets — Wang et al. PRE 87, 052107 (2013, threshold revision, verbatim), Mertens J. Phys. A (2022, exact enumeration, verbatim), Jensen–Ziff PRE 74, 020101(R) (2006, scattered ratio fixed, verbatim).
Every source marked PRIMARY_TEXT_READ / ABSTRACT_ONLY / [LIT] / API_QUERY; all quotes fetched, none from memory. Blocked sources (Springer, DeepBlue, ADS, APS direct) recorded in §8.
Draft PR — do not merge; do not close #695.
