What this is

One notes file: notes/venue-retrieval-p2-20260909.md. An independent literature retrieval for the P2 certified-exclusion draft (docs/manuscripts/p2-algebraic-exclusion/), stress-testing the prior Grok venue assessment against primary sources. No census re-run, no PSLQ, no Huawei, no docs/STATUS.md/docs/ROADMAP.md edits, draft claims untouched.

Answers to the ticket's questions (details + quotes in the notes file)

  • Q2 — all four sources are J. Phys. A, verified on fetched IOPscience pages: Jacobsen 2015 (48 454003), Mertens 2022 (55 334002), Yang–Zhou 2024 Comment (57 258001), Jacobsen 2024 Reply (57 258002). JPA scope quoted from the publisher about page — it explicitly solicits "algorithmic papers" with "clear physical background", and lists "numerical and computational methods, analysis of algorithms" (Statistical physics) and "algebraic structures and number theory" / "computational methods" (Mathematical physics).
  • Q1 — comparables fetched and read (PRIMARY_TEXT_READ): Bailey–Borwein–Girgensohn, Experimental evaluation of Euler sums (Exp. Math. 1994) — "the results in Table 3 are not established in any rigorous mathematical sense"; Bailey–Broadhurst (Math. Comp. 2001) — detections "do not constitute a rigorous proof"; Scullard 2006 (Phys. Rev. E 73, 016107 — venue corrected for the record; the draft's \[LIT\] marker for the martini thresholds can now be cleared by a future ticket). None certifies a null against an interval; the manuscript's §1.2 diagnosis matches the primary texts.
  • Q3 — refine: the pairwise disagreement is in the literature — Mertens 2022 prints "deviates from the reference value (19) by 2 errorbars / 2.5 errorbars" vs Jacobsen 2015, and the Yang–Zhou Comment asserts Jacobsen 2015 "is incorrect". What was not found anywhere: the four-way pairwise-disjointness statement and the no-pooled-interval consequence. Wikipedia's compilation lists 15 square-site determinations side by side without remark ([SECONDARY]).
  • Q4/Q5 — venue ranking confirmed independently: JPA primary (scope fit + Mertens 2022 as the closest same-journal analogue), Exp. Math. genuine fallback (aims-and-scope quoted), Math. Comp. stretch, JSP/JSTAT/PRE wrong-as-written (with the Scullard nuance that PRE does publish exact-threshold derivations), J. Algebra wrong (no analogue found). - Comparable certified-vs-heuristic searches fetched and read: Bailey-

  2001), Scullard (PRE 2006, venue corrected for the record).
- Disjointness remark stress-tested: pairwise deviations are in the
  literature (Mertens 2022 '2/2.5 errorbars'; the Comment/Reply
  exchange); the four-way statement and no-pooling consequence were not
  found anywhere.
- Independent venue assessment confirms JPA primary / Exp. Math.
  fallback, with one positioning refinement for section 2.1.

Verified as notes-only for #694. Do not merge. Do not close #694 / #551. STATUS untouched; no census re-run; draft claims not edited.

Tripwire: JPA publisher about page quoted; four fetched comparables (Scullard 2006 PRE, BBG 1994 Exp. Math., Bailey–Broadhurst 2001 Math. Comp., Mertens 2022 as the in-field algorithmic analogue). Scullard venue corrected to PRE 73, 016107 — that [LIT] in the P2 draft can be cleared on a later writing pass, not here.

Spot-check: Jacobsen 2015 JPA 48 454003, Mertens 2022 JPA 55 334002, Yang–Zhou Comment 57 258001 / Jacobsen Reply 57 258002, and Scullard PRE 73 016107 are real citations. I did not re-fetch every PDF.
