fix(settings): send only changed global fields on Save - #570
Conversation
A tab opened before another admin's save wrote its cached default term, payment and coverage back on any Save, and the backend then propagated them to every service config. Build the global PUT body from the fields that differ from the saved snapshot; the backend keeps omitted keys. Skip the global PUT when nothing in it changed. Track the offering-class select so it follows the same rule.
📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughGlobal settings saves now omit unchanged values from the global PUT payload. The EC2 offering-class field is included in dirty tracking. Tests cover selective saves, coverage behavior, and edits to settings on the real page. ChangesGlobal settings save behavior
Priority: ⬇️ Low Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~15 minutes Change: Bug fix Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to Save now sends only changed global settings, but two problems remain. Editing one provider's grace period or toggle can still revert another admin's change to a sibling value. The saved-state baseline can also drift if Save partially fails or a field is edited while Save is in progress, which causes edits to be re-sent or silently skipped. Resolve these before merging. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 5✅ Passed checks (5 passed)

…t the multi-field keys The laddering toggle saves itself on change (ladder.ts), so Save no longer carries laddering_enabled; it was sent on every Save and reverted another admin's value. Test against the real index.html that an unedited Save sends no global PUT and that each multi-field key is still saved. Drop the dead empty-snapshot guard.

- Line 3554: After api.updateConfig(changedGlobal) succeeds, advance the global
snapshot only for fields submitted in changedGlobal, using those submitted
values rather than rereading the DOM. Ensure later validation failures or edits
made during the request cannot leave persisted fields dirty or mark unsent edits
as saved; locate the snapshot update and snapshotAllFields() flow.
- Line 3549: Update the settings save flow for grace_period_days and
enabled_providers so changing one member cannot overwrite other members with
stale values; use per-member updates or validate a version before replacing
either whole map.

…succeeds A filter validation failure after a successful global PUT left the saved fields looking unsaved, so undoing such an edit in the form was never sent and the stored value stayed.
What
saveGlobalSettingsnow sends only the global fields that differ from the saved snapshot, and skips the global PUT when none do. Save no longer carriesladdering_enabled: its toggle saves itself on change with a partial PUT (ladder.ts,wireKillSwitchToggle).Why
A tab opened before another admin's save wrote its cached default term, payment and coverage back on any Save (and the backend then copies a changed global default to every service config). The backend merges omitted keys over the stored row, so a partial body is safe. The
setting-ec2-offering-classselect is now tracked so it follows the same rule. How verified
