chore(deps): pin cloud-commitments-go at 0b677e1 with its Azure Redis and ladder status changes - #1837
All four cloud-commitments-go modules move to 0b677e1 (v0.0.0-20261107014806-0b677e19ae94), up from c83aef8. This PR also carries every platform change those go PRs require.
A separate optional common.ClaimReader. AttemptJournal is unchanged, so the platform's PostgresStore still satisfies it
None
#694 the Azure cache client refuses every purchase
An Azure cache purchase must go to the managedredis client
#1801 (cherry-picked from claude-ui-fix-2's branch, authorship kept)
#695 the ladder writes canceled for run and tranche statuses
Stored rows can hold either spelling
#1792 (cherry-picked from claude-ui-fix-2's branch, authorship kept)
go#697 isn't in this range.
go#702 adaptation: Azure Redis stays stored as cache
go now labels Azure Redis recommendations memorydb. The platform keys these on cache for Azure:
recommendation IDs;
suppressions;
per-account service config (AccountConfigKey(acct, "azure", "cache"));
the frontend service lists.
Without a change, an existing azure/cache suppression would stop matching, so a recently bought Azure Redis rec could be offered and bought again. Account config would also silently stop applying.
convertRecommendations (internal/scheduler/scheduler.go) is the only place that stores a service from a go rec. It now goes through config.StoredRecommendationService, which maps memorydb to cache for Azure only. Everything downstream reads the stored value, so IDs, suppressions, config, the frontend and the API stay unchanged and no migration is needed. At purchase time cache still routes to the managedredis client (#1801).
Tests:
TestApplySuppressions_AzureCacheSuppressionHidesMemoryDBSourcedRec runs through the real suppression path: an existing azure/cache suppression still hides a rec go emitted as memorydb. This is the no-re-buy case.
TestConvertRecommendations_AzureMemoryDBStoredAsCacheWithSameID: the stored service is cache, and the rec ID equals the ID the same rec produced when go emitted it as cache.
TestFilterRecsByResolvedConfigs_AzureCacheConfigAppliesToMemoryDBSourcedRec: a disabled azure/cache config and a min_count override still apply.
TestConvertRecommendations_AWSMemoryDBUnchanged and TestStoredRecommendationService: AWS memorydb and every other provider/service pair are unchanged.
go#702 also gives Advisor-sourced Azure Redis recommendations an engine ("redis"); before the bump they had none. Suppressions are matched across that change: CanonicalSuppressionEngine treats "" and "redis" as the same engine for azure/cache when writing suppressions, on both sides of suppression matching, and in the paged query's keys. A recommendation suppressed before the bump therefore stays suppressed, so it can't be bought again.
Recommendation IDs and RecIdentityKey keep the raw engine, so these recs change ID once. Two effects follow, both in the safe direction:
Pending executions for such a rec fail closed at the Azure price check (ErrStaleAzurePricing, no purchase) and need a refresh and a new purchase.
Frozen ramp baselines for such a rec stop matching, so those steps under-buy.
Row selection state and other ID-keyed references to these recs reset once. The ladder recheck's "its ladder run status ... is unknown" refusal is now in the stored-error allowlist.
Local, macOS, at d9a4f78 (on main 8bdc4d9), then for the fix round at 3930c14: unit tests for config, scheduler, purchase and api, integration tests for config and scheduler, and golangci all pass, and the new suppression test fails without the engine canonicalisation.
Azure Redis recommendations are now stored and displayed as cache recommendations, use the managed Redis purchase flow, and match suppressions across engine-name variations.
Bug Fixes
Legacy canceled-status values are normalized for ladder timelines and continue to be handled correctly in cancellation and retry checks. Unknown ladder run statuses are also refused before purchase execution.
Moves all four cloud-commitments-go modules from c83aef8 to 0b677e1,
which adds #706 (Azure Redis dedupe against held reservations), #702
(managedredis is the only Azure Redis recommendation producer), #709
(optional attempt-journal claim reader), #694 (the Azure cache client
refuses purchases) and #695 (ladder statuses spelled canceled). The
platform changes these need follow in this PR.

cloud-commitments-go#694 makes the Azure cache client refuse every
purchase: managedredis (ServiceMemoryDB) is now the only Azure service
that buys RedisCache reservations. Azure Redis recommendations are still
labeled ServiceCache, so once the go pin includes #694 every Azure
Redis purchase through the platform would be refused.
The purchase now asks the provider for the client that buys the
recommendation (purchaseClientService): Azure ServiceCache resolves to
ServiceMemoryDB, everything else is unchanged. The recommendation, its
history row and suppressions keep their own service label; the
managedredis client does not read it.

(cherry picked from commit 399a832)
cloud-commitments-go#554 writes ladder run and tranche statuses as
"canceled", and no migration renames ladder_runs or ladder_tranches
rows, so legacy "cancelled" rows and new "canceled" rows coexist.
- The execution recheck parses the run status (ParseRunStatus), so both
spellings refuse and a status the code does not know fails closed.
- The amend ceiling's latest-run SQL excludes both spellings.
- The ladder timeline loaders normalize both to "canceled", so labels,
filters and counts see one value; the OpenAPI enums list both.
- Every use of the deprecated Cancelled constants is renamed to Canceled.
Tests cover each site with both spellings, including the Retry guard
(LockLadderTrancheForRetryTx feeds LadderTrancheSettled).

TestNoUnfailableMockAssertions resolves a mock receiver only from
new(T) or &T{} in the same scope. The Azure Redis routing tests got
their MockProvider back from a helper, so the guard could not check
their AssertNotCalled calls. Each test now creates the provider and
passes it in.

Since cloud-commitments-go#702 the Azure provider labels Redis
recommendations memorydb. The platform keys recommendation IDs,
suppressions and per-account service config on cache for Azure, so a
changed label would let an existing suppression stop matching and drop
the account config. convertRecommendations now stores an Azure memorydb
recommendation as cache through config.StoredRecommendationService.
AWS memorydb is unchanged. Purchases already route Azure cache to the
managedredis client.

The Retry guard test comment named the legacy double-l status spelling
literally; the code lines already carry nolint markers.

The change updates the cloud-commitments-go dependency pin, handles current and legacy ladder cancellation spellings, and adds Azure Redis recommendation mapping, suppression matching, and purchase routing.
Changes: Ladder status compatibility
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Status persistence and compatibility go.mod, internal/api/openapi.yaml, internal/config/*ladder*, internal/config/interfaces.go, internal/api/handler_purchases_retry_ladder_canceled_test.go, internal/server/handler_ladder_immediate_integration_test.go
Updates the cloud-commitments-go pin and uses the Canceled status constants across ladder transitions and tests. The amendment ceiling excludes both canceled and legacy cancelled run values. API documentation lists both spellings.
The ladder purchase recheck parses run statuses, refuses unknown or canceled values, and tests current and legacy canceled spellings. The refusal-note allowlist accepts unknown run-status notes.
Timeline status display frontend/src/api/ladder.ts, frontend/src/ladder-timeline-filters.ts, frontend/src/__tests__/ladder-timeline-*
Timeline loaders normalize legacy cancelled values to canceled. Status labels and test fixtures use canceled; canceled statuses remain excluded from timeline counts.
Azure memorydb recommendations are stored as cache with the redis engine. Suppression construction and lookup canonicalize engine values and generate keys for supported spellings. Tests cover Azure suppression and filtering behavior, and AWS memorydb conversion remains unchanged.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title names a dependency pin, which is one change in the PR. The PR also changes Azure Redis purchase routing, Azure memorydb recommendation storage, and the canceled ladder status spelling. The title covers the go.mod bump and the status changes, but it omits the Azure Redis routing fix, which the linked issue #1801 treats as the main objective. Overall the title is partially related to the changeset.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
[#1801] Routing: executeSinglePurchase in internal/purchase/execution.go sends Azure cache recommendations to the managedredis client (common.ServiceMemoryDB). Other provider and service pairs keep their original service type. Tests: TestAzureCachePurchaseUsesTheManagedRedisClient checks the Azure route. TestAWSCachePurchaseKeepsTheCacheClient checks that AWS cache keeps ServiceCache. TestPurchaseClientService is table-driven across providers. The go pin moves to 0b677e1, which includes go#694. Not evidenced: the issue asks the author to check whether managedredis reads Recommendation.Service and to align it. The PR does not state that result. The fake-provider tests do not exercise the real client. [#1792] Run recheck: ladderRunRefusal parses the stored status and refuses canceled runs for both spellings. Amend ceiling: loadLadderCeiling excludes both canceled and cancelled, with an integration test for each spelling. API: openapi.yaml lists both spellings for LadderTimelineEvent.status, run_status and LadderTimelineRun.status. Frontend: ladder.ts normalizes cancelled to canceled in getLadderEvents and getLadderRuns, covered by ladder-timeline-api.test.ts. The frontend maps list only canceled, which differs from the issue wording but is reached only after normalization. Tests cover both spellings in recheck, amend ceiling and frontend. The evidence is limited to the supplied summary and the PR description. No repository inspection was made, because no read-only tool was available in this assessment.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The go#702 adaptation is not named in either linked issue. It is connected to the go pin bump, which both linked issues require to ship with their fixes. Without it, the bump would stop matching existing azure/cache suppressions, recommendation IDs, account config and frontend service lists. The changes are: StoredRecommendationService and CanonicalSuppressionEngine in internal/config/types.go; the convertRecommendations change in internal/scheduler/scheduler.go; SuppressionEngineSpellings and suppressionPageKeys; and suppressionBucketOf canonicalization. Their tests are in scheduler and config packages. The ladder changes (status constant renames, the errnotes unknown-status allowlist entry, the frontend normalization) support #1792. The test(purchase) guard change and the misspell comment rewording support the #1801 and #1792 tests. No change was shown to be unrelated to the pin bump or the two linked issues. Residual risk, not a scope failure: a review reported that Advisor-only Azure Redis recommendation IDs change once after the bump, and that ramp baselines keyed by identity could stop matching. The PR description says IDs stay unchanged, which conflicts with a later commit message. The comments do not confirm that the ramp-baseline concern was resolved. Evidence was limited to the supplied summary; no repository inspection was made.

Cold review of the full diff (money case: Azure Redis relabeling). I'm an independent reviewer: I authored none of these commits.
Pin. All go modules move to 0b677e19ae94 (#706, #702, #709, #694, #695). go mod verify passes, and go mod tidy -diff is clean.
Suppression and identity continuity (go#702 relabeled Azure Redis recs from cache to memorydb)
convertRecommendations (internal/scheduler/scheduler.go:1827) is the only place a go common.Recommendation's service becomes a platform RecommendationRecord. I found no other string(rec.Service) conversion in internal/.
It now stores config.StoredRecommendationService(provider, service), which maps only azure + memorydb back to cache.
Everything downstream keys on the stored record: the rec ID, the suppression index (applySuppressions, scheduler.go:1565, via CanonicalSuppressionService(rec.Provider, rec.Service)), and the per-account config (AccountConfigKey(..., found.Service), :1422). So an existing azure/cache suppression still suppresses a memorydb-sourced rec (no re-buy), rec IDs are stable, and azure/cache config toggles still apply.
AWS memorydb is unchanged: the provider guard.
Purchase routing.purchaseClientService buys azure + cache through the memorydb client, managedredis, because the Azure cache client now refuses every purchase (go#694). History and suppressions keep the rec's own cache label.
Amend ceiling (store_postgres_ladder_amend_ceiling.go:121): r.status NOT IN ('canceled','cancelled').
Recheck, run status:ladderRunRefusal parses with ladder.ParseRunStatus, which maps legacy cancelled to RunStatusCanceled (pinned go ladder/store.go:63). Both spellings refuse, and an unknown status fails closed.
Recheck, tranche status:LadderTrancheSettled treats anything other than scheduled or fired as settled, so a legacy cancelled tranche is refused too.
Reconcile:decideFiredTranche handles both config.StatusCanceled and config.LegacyStatusCanceled. The line-141 comment in reconcileFiredTranches is about a canceled context, not a status spelling.
Writers now write canceled; the readers above accept both.
Mutation probes (scoped -run, each fails named tests)
Normalization off (Azure memorydb stored as memorydb) fails TestConvertRecommendations_AzureMemoryDBStoredAsCacheWithSameID, TestApplySuppressions_AzureCacheSuppressionHidesMemoryDBSourcedRec and TestFilterRecsByResolvedConfigs_AzureCacheConfigAppliesToMemoryDBSourcedRec. Those are the money proofs: same ID, suppression continuity and config toggles.
The provider guard dropped (AWS memorydb stored as cache) fails TestConvertRecommendations_AWSMemoryDBUnchanged and TestStoredRecommendationService.
Azure cache bought through the cache client again fails TestAzureCachePurchaseUsesTheManagedRedisClient.
The run status compared raw, so legacy cancelled passes, fails TestLadderRecheck_RefusesBeforeProviderCall.
Verification
CI: run 42329367197 ("CI - Build & Test") at this SHA covers the full unit and integration suites. When I posted, 30 checks passed and 7 were pending.
Local (macOS, scoped, private GOCACHE):go test -run 'Redis|Suppress|StoredRecommendationService|Recheck|Ladder|Canceled|...' passes for scheduler, purchase and config, plus the 4 probes above.
Review of PR #1837 (go pin bump to 0b677e1, #1801, #1792, go#702 adaptation) at d9a4f78, base main 8bdc4d9. The head did not move during the review.
Blocking
B1. Advisor-sourced Azure Redis recs change engine, rec ID and suppression key across the bump (re-buy risk)
Where: internal/scheduler/scheduler.go:1827 (convertRecommendations) together with internal/scheduler/scheduler.go:1734 (extractEngine), internal/scheduler/scheduler.go:1236 (recommendationID) and internal/scheduler/scheduler.go:1454-1457, 1509-1515, 1556-1560 (suppressionKey including engine).
Upstream cause: go#702 added, in providers/azure/recommendations.go:654-656 at 0b677e1:
At c83aef8 (main's pin), convertAdvisorRecommendation (providers/azure/recommendations.go:632-655) set no Details at all. Advisor reservation rows were priced through the cache client (recommendations_advisor_pricing.go:39 at c83aef8) and kept as purchasable azure/cache recs with engine "". After the bump the same Advisor rec has engine "redis".
The PR maps the service back (memorydb to cache) but not the engine. So for an Advisor-only Redis rec (one that dropCoveredAdvisorReservations, recommendations.go:337, does not drop because no Consumption rec covers it):
the rec ID moves from azure|acct|cache|region|sku||term|payment to azure|acct|cache|region|sku|redis|term|payment;
an active purchase_suppressions row written before the deploy carries engine "" and no longer matches. The suppression 6-tuple includes engine, so the rec shows again at full count and can be bought again inside the grace window. Advisor rows don't go through the go#706 held-reservation dedupe (that dedupe lives inside managedredis.GetRecommendations), so the suppression is the only guard.
Reproduced with a reviewer probe test. It used the real upstream shapes: old means Service cache with nil Details, new means Service memorydb with managedredis.Details. It went through convertRecommendations, tagAccount, config.BuildSuppressions and Scheduler.ListRecommendations at d9a4f78:
old id="azure|acct-1|cache|westeurope|Premium_P1||1|upfront" engine=""
new id="azure|acct-1|cache|westeurope|Premium_P1|redis|1|upfront" engine="redis"
FAIL: rec ID must be stable across the bump
FAIL: a suppression written for the pre-bump Advisor rec must hide the post-bump rec (rec returned with Count 2)
Consumption-sourced recs are fine: the old cache converter (services/cache/client.go:614-639 at c83aef8) already set CacheDetails{Engine:"redis"}, and the new managedredis converter does the same (managedredis/client.go:513-541).
The PR's test does not catch this. TestConvertRecommendations_AzureMemoryDBStoredAsCacheWithSameID (internal/scheduler/azure_redis_service_test.go:22-34) labels one iteration "advisor", but both iterations build the same Details-less rec, so neither has the real upstream shape. TestApplySuppressions_AzureCacheSuppressionHidesMemoryDBSourcedRec seeds a suppression with engine "" against a rec with no Details, so the engine never differs.
Fix: match engine "" and "redis" as the same key for azure/cache suppressions. One way is to canonicalise the engine next to CanonicalSuppressionService, so an azure/cache engine "" reads as "redis" on both sides of aggregateSuppressions and applySuppressionIndex. Another is a data migration that rewrites active azure/cache purchase_suppressions rows from engine "" to "redis", merging counts on a unique-key collision. Add a regression test with the real old and new Advisor shapes, like the probe above. Rec IDs of Advisor-only Azure Redis recs will still shift; say so in the PR body (row selection state and any ID-keyed references to these rows reset once).
Non-blocking
N1. internal/purchase/ladder_execution_recheck.go:84-86 adds a refusal text, refusing to execute ladder purchase: its ladder run status %q is unknown, that is not in serverNotePatterns (internal/purchase/errnotes.go:30). The errnotes.go header says the list is enumerated from ladder_execution_recheck.go. Users would see the generic "the provider returned an error" category instead of the server note. It is reachable only with an unknown run status in the DB. Add a closed pattern (for example its ladder run status "[a-z_]{1,32}" is unknown) and a vector in errnotes_test.go:41.
N2. Same root as B1, under-buy direction: ramp baselines frozen by RecIdentityKey (internal/config/store_postgres_ramp_baseline.go:159) for an Advisor-sourced Azure Redis rec stop matching after the bump. The planstep resolver then skips that rec as "without a frozen baseline" (under-buy, safe direction). The B1 fix does not cover this because RecIdentityKey keeps the engine; note it in the PR.
Checked and holding
go#702 consumption path: managedredis.convertRecommendation (managedredis/client.go:519-541 at 0b677e1) emits the same Region, ResourceType, Engine "redis", PaymentOption "upfront" and Term from the same azrecs extractor as the old cache converter. With StoredRecommendationService (internal/config/types.go:863-873) mapping azure memorydb to cache, the ID and suppression key are unchanged. Shards is dropped but is not part of the ID or variant (internal/config/recommendation_identity.go:98-140).
convertRecommendations is the only place a go rec's service is stored. collectAzureAmbient (scheduler.go:852), collectAzureForAccount (scheduler.go:994) and the generic path (scheduler.go:1196) all go through it via GetAllRecommendations. Before the bump, GetAllRecommendations never collected managedredis (recommendations.go at c83aef8 used newCacheClientFn only), so no stored azure/memorydb recs or suppressions exist to orphan.
Config toggles: filterRecsByResolvedConfigs keys on the stored service; the azure/cache disabled and min_count cases hold (test 3, killed by M1 and M3).
AWS memorydb is untouched: the provider check at types.go:868 is pinned by TestConvertRecommendations_AWSMemoryDBUnchanged and TestStoredRecommendationService (killed by M2).
fix(purchase): route Azure Redis purchases to managedredis before the go pin includes go#694 #1801 (motivated by go#694, cache.PurchaseCommitment refuses with ErrRefusedBeforePurchase, services/cache/client.go:203-207): internal/purchase/execution.go:1281 is the only GetServiceClient call site in internal/ and cmd/. purchaseClientService (execution.go:1420-1430) sends azure cache to ServiceMemoryDB, which the provider routes to NewManagedRedisClient (provider.go:609 at 0b677e1). AWS cache and other Azure services are unchanged (killed by M4 and M5). managedredis.PurchaseCommitment does not check rec.Service (client.go:236-300), so the "cache" label in history and suppressions is safe. In-flight azure/cache rows fire through managedredis on their next attempt. Re-drives stay idempotent because both clients share reservations.Submit and DoIdempotentPurchaseTwoStep, keyed on opts.IdempotencyToken (services/internal/reservations/purchasecommitment.go:53-67).
go#706: internal to managedredis (Reservations API held commitments with engine "redis"); no platform change needed.
go#709: ClaimReader is optional, found by type assertion; AttemptJournal is unchanged, and the build and CI pass.
amend ceiling SQL internal/config/store_postgres_ladder_amend_ceiling.go:121 excludes both spellings (killed by M7 and M8, integration).
Execute-time recheck internal/purchase/ladder_execution_recheck.go:81-91 parses the run status, so both spellings refuse (killed by M6). The tranche branch at :67 uses LadderTrancheSettled (store_postgres_ladder_reconcile.go:203-205), a negative test on scheduled or fired, so it accepts both spellings.
Retry guard internal/api/handler_purchases.go:2937-2946 also uses LadderTrancheSettled.
The ":141" in ladder_reconcile.go is a ctx-canceled check, not a status read. The execution-status switch at ladder_reconcile.go:83 already lists both spellings.
Every other ladder_runs and ladder_tranches predicate is a positive list (scheduled, fired, completed, planned) or a write: store_postgres_ladder.go:350-355, 452-453; lifecycle.go:78-81, 135-136, 157-158; lock.go:185; settled.go:15; reconcile.go:59, 97, 151. No missed site found.
Frontend normalises both spellings at fetch (frontend/src/api/ladder.ts:177-189).
All green: run 42329367197 (Unit Tests job 128272098832; Integration Tests config 128272099011, purchase 128272099222, api 128272099219, server 128272099260, auth 128272099279, migrations/rest 128272099247; Lint Code 128272099005; E2E 128272099203; Playwright 128272099082; CI Success 128274405746), run 42329367239 (pre-commit hooks 128272098557) and run 42329367179 (Build frontend 128272098431). …hange
cloud-commitments-go#702 gives Advisor-sourced Azure Redis
recommendations an engine ("redis"); before the bump they had none.
The engine is part of the suppression key, so a suppression written
for such a recommendation before the bump would stop matching it
afterwards, and the recommendation could be offered again at full
count.
CanonicalSuppressionEngine treats "" and "redis" as the same engine for
azure/cache:
- in the suppression bucket written at purchase time;
- on the stored and recommendation sides of aggregateSuppressions and
applySuppressionIndex;
- through SuppressionEngineSpellings, in the paged recommendations
query's suppression keys.
Recommendation IDs and RecIdentityKey keep the raw engine, so
Advisor-only Azure Redis recommendations change ID once.
The stored-error allowlist also covers the ladder recheck's "its ladder
run status ... is unknown" refusal.

B1 (money): an Azure Redis suppression across go#702's engine change
go#702 gave Advisor-sourced Azure Redis recs engine redis where they had "". So an existing suppression keyed on engine "" would stop matching the new rec, and the capacity would be re-bought.
CanonicalSuppressionEngine (internal/config/types.go) reads an azure + cache engine "" as redis. Every other tuple is unchanged.
It's applied on both sides at every suppression match site:
aggregateSuppressions and applySuppressionIndex (internal/scheduler/scheduler.go);
the write-side bucket, suppressionBucketOf;
the SQL page keys, suppressionPageKeys. Those expand SuppressionEngineSpellings to both redis and "", so stored rows with either spelling are fetched.
I found no other engine-keyed suppression match: every consumer of ListActiveSuppressions goes through applySuppressions, and AppliesTo compares variants only.
N1. The new recheck refusal text, its ladder run status "<s>" is unknown, is allow-listed in serverNotePatterns with a bounded [a-z_]{1,32}. A quote-injecting status still fails closed, per the new test.
Repro and mutation probes (scoped -run, each fails named tests)
B1 repro: with the engine canonicalization off, the old "" suppression no longer hides the new redis rec. That fails TestApplySuppressions_AdvisorRedisEngineStableAcrossGoBump, which uses the real old and new Advisor rec shapes, and TestCanonicalSuppressionEngine.
The suppression-index side left raw fails ..._AdvisorRedisEngineStableAcrossGoBump and TestApplySuppressions_AzureCacheSuppressionHidesMemoryDBSourcedRec.
The rec side left raw fails the same two.
The SQL page keys missing the "" spelling fails TestCanonicalSuppressionEngine.
The N1 pattern removed fails TestSanitizeStoredError_AllowlistedNotesPassThroughVerbatim.
Verification
CI: run 42334416331 ("CI - Build & Test", success) at this SHA; all 42 checks pass.
Local (macOS, scoped, private GOCACHE): the Redis|Suppress|Engine|... tests pass for scheduler, config and purchase, plus the probes above.
My earlier evidence at d9a4f78 carries over: the pin, StoredRecommendationService, purchase routing and the #1792 spellings.
Delta review of d9a4f782..3930c149 (one commit). It resolves my blocking B1.
B1, fixed.config.CanonicalSuppressionEngine (types.go) reads an Azure cache engine "" as redis. It's applied on all three sides:
the suppression index key (scheduler.goaggregateSuppressions);
the rec lookup key (applySuppressionIndex);
the suppression write (suppressions_build.go).
The page's SQL pre-filter enumerates both spellings (SuppressionEngineSpellings, used in scheduler_page.go). AppliesTo doesn't compare the engine, so the key is the whole match.
My B1 repro, re-run at 3930c149. It uses the real upstream shapes: at c83aef8, Advisor-sourced cache with nil Details; at 0b677e1, memorydb with managedredis.Details, run through convertRecommendations, BuildSuppressions and ListRecommendations. The suppression assertion now passes: an old engine-"" suppression hides the post-bump rec, so there's no re-buy.
Probes at 3930c149 (-run 'AzureRedis|Suppression' on scheduler and config; each insertion asserted, then reverted). All were killed by the PR's own tests:
canonicalisation disabled: TestApplySuppressions_AdvisorRedisEngineStableAcrossGoBump and TestCanonicalSuppressionEngine fail;
rec side raw: AdvisorRedisEngineStableAcrossGoBump and AzureCacheSuppressionHidesMemoryDBSourcedRec fail;
suppression side raw: the same two fail;
the "" spelling dropped from SuppressionEngineSpellings: TestCanonicalSuppressionEngine fails;
N1, fixed.errnotes.go adds its ladder run status "[a-z_]{1,32}" is unknown to the ladder refusal alternation (closed, quoted slot), with a test. N2: noted in the body.
CI at 3930c149: 42 pass.
Non-blocking, please state it in the body. The rec ID of an Advisor-only Azure Redis rec still changes once, from azure|<acct>|cache|<region>|Premium_P1||1|upfront to ...|Premium_P1|redis|1|upfront, because the engine is part of the ID. My repro's ID assertion fails at 3930c149. Body proof 2 (TestConvertRecommendations_AzureMemoryDBStoredAsCacheWithSameID) holds only for recs whose Details are the same before and after. The effects are a stale-tab 409 and N2's baseline miss, both fail-safe. The new ID equals the consumption-sourced ID for the same SKU. A batch can't hold both, because upstream dropCoveredAdvisorReservations drops Advisor rows that consumption covers, so the upsert can't hit SQLSTATE 21000.
Merged main in (new head 6194a70, merge-only) so CI runs this PR together with main's recent RI exchange commits 693ebc5 and d618d7c. Both also change internal/purchase/errnotes.go and its test table. The two sides merge without conflict, but the same file changed on both, so CI on the combination is the check. The PR's own diff is unchanged. Merge-only delta approvals are needed from @claude-qa-ui-3 and @claude-cc-platform.
The merge.6194a70 has parents 3930c14 (my approved head) and d618d7c (main). git show --remerge-diff 6194a709 is empty: git combined the two internal/purchase/errnotes.go edits without a conflict, and no hand resolution was needed.
Both pattern sets survive in the merged serverNotePatterns.
From this PR (N1): the ladder-refusal alternation still ends |its ladder run status "[a-z_]{1,32}" is unknown).
From main: the new RI exchange source RI is held by an exchange in progress: source RI\(s\) ... are held by a direct exchange that may have reached AWS ... pattern, with its directGuardIDListPattern constant.
Tests at this SHA (macOS, scoped, private GOCACHE): go test -run 'SanitizeStoredError|Errnote|ServerNote|Recheck' ./internal/purchase/ passes, so the allow-list tests for both sets run against the merged file.
CI at this SHA was still running when I posted (29 pass, 10 pending).

… before submission (Part of #682) (#1842)
* fix(purchase): record no_submission when every failed rec was refused before submission
Per-rec purchase errors reach the execution only as strings, so a
refusal raised before any purchase call (the beforeSubmission class)
was lost in the aggregate "some purchases failed" error. A row whose
every rec was refused therefore did not record no_submission or release
its suppressions.
The aggregation now tallies, while the error values are in hand, how
many failed recs carried the beforeSubmission class without an unknown
outcome. When every failure was such a refusal and no rec was purchased:
- the single-account run returns the aggregate error with the
beforeSubmission class, so saveTerminalExecution records
no_submission and releases suppressions;
- a per-account row in a fan-out is saved with NoSubmission set.
Suppressions there belong to the root execution, as on the
skipped-account path.
Any purchased rec, any unknown-outcome rec or any other failure keeps
today's behaviour. No rec-level refusal exists yet, so this changes
nothing until the GCP recent-commitment check (#682 P1) adds one.

* test(purchase): pin that a refusal wrapping an unknown outcome is not counted as refused
An error with the beforeSubmission class that also wraps
ErrOutcomeUnknown may have reached the cloud, so the row must keep
today's handling. Without this case, dropping the ErrOutcomeUnknown
check from failureTally.add went unnoticed.
Part of #682

* test(purchase): pin that a panic after submission is not counted as refused
The fan-out recovers a panic inside the per-rec closure into a
closure-level error, possibly after the provider call. failureTally
must count it as a non-refused failure; without this case, deleting
tally.add(r.Err) left every test green. A rec that panics in
PurchaseCommitment next to a refused rec now keeps the row off
no_submission and its suppressions in place, single-account and
fan-out.

This PR also carries every platform change those go PRs require.memorydbcommon.ClaimReader.AttemptJournalis unchanged, so the platform'sPostgresStorestill satisfies itcachepurchase must go to the managedredis clientcanceledfor run and tranche statusesgo#697 isn't in this range.
go#702 adaptation: Azure Redis stays stored as
cachego now labels Azure Redis recommendations
memorydb. The platform keys these oncachefor Azure:AccountConfigKey(acct, "azure", "cache"));Without a change, an existing
azure/cachesuppression would stop matching, so a recently bought Azure Redis rec could be offered and bought again. Account config would also silently stop applying.convertRecommendations(internal/scheduler/scheduler.go) is the only place that stores a service from a go rec. It now goes throughconfig.StoredRecommendationService, which mapsmemorydbtocachefor Azure only. Everything downstream reads the stored value, so IDs, suppressions, config, the frontend and the API stay unchanged and no migration is needed. At purchase timecachestill routes to the managedredis client (#1801).Tests:
TestApplySuppressions_AzureCacheSuppressionHidesMemoryDBSourcedRecruns through the real suppression path: an existingazure/cachesuppression still hides a rec go emitted asmemorydb. This is the no-re-buy case.TestConvertRecommendations_AzureMemoryDBStoredAsCacheWithSameID: the stored service iscache, and the rec ID equals the ID the same rec produced when go emitted it ascache.TestFilterRecsByResolvedConfigs_AzureCacheConfigAppliesToMemoryDBSourcedRec: a disabledazure/cacheconfig and amin_countoverride still apply.TestConvertRecommendations_AWSMemoryDBUnchangedandTestStoredRecommendationService: AWSmemorydband every other provider/service pair are unchanged.Advisor-only Azure Redis recommendations: one-time effects
go#702 also gives Advisor-sourced Azure Redis recommendations an engine ("redis"); before the bump they had none. Suppressions are matched across that change:
CanonicalSuppressionEnginetreats "" and "redis" as the same engine for azure/cache when writing suppressions, on both sides of suppression matching, and in the paged query's keys. A recommendation suppressed before the bump therefore stays suppressed, so it can't be bought again.Recommendation IDs and
RecIdentityKeykeep the raw engine, so these recs change ID once. Two effects follow, both in the safe direction:ErrStaleAzurePricing, no purchase) and need a refresh and a new purchase.Row selection state and other ID-keyed references to these recs reset once. The ladder recheck's "its ladder run status ... is unknown" refusal is now in the stored-error allowlist.
