The shared screen layer for FycoPvP and FycoPvE on WoW 3.3.5a (Interface 30300).
It does three things:
- One unlock for every frame.
/fui lockunlocks every movable frame from all three addons at once: unit frames, cast bars, the enemy-cooldown bar, the threat meter, boss timers, everything. Drag them, then/fui lockagain. - Unit and raid frames for player, pet, target, target of target, focus, party and raid, with a PvP mode and a PvE mode.
- Chat: one-click Guild, Party, Raid, Whispers, Trade and Loot tabs, hiding the chat, text size and a few quality-of-life options. See Chat.
FycoPvP and FycoPvE both need it. Their release zips include the FycoUI folder, so extracting
either one into Interface\AddOns\ installs it too. On its own FycoUI still works: you get the unit
frames, and the PvP extras on them simply stay empty.

/fyco lock and /fyco frames … in FycoPvP still work; they forward here. /fpve threat unlock
and the other single-frame unlocks in FycoPvE still work on their own too.
Frames can't be unlocked or locked during combat: the unit frames are Blizzard secure frames, and Blizzard locks those while you fight.
Replaces Blizzard's unit frames with flat, dense frames: a big health percentage you can read at a glance, a class tile, and the exact numbers alongside. Click to target and right-click menus work as normal, in combat included, and Clique-style click-casting addons pick the frames up.
One set of frames, two modes. Only what is drawn inside the frames changes between them, never their size or position. That is why switching works mid-fight, where Blizzard locks every other change to a unit frame.
| PvP | PvE | |
|---|---|---|
| Beside an enemy player | trinket ready or its cooldown, and the worst DR still running | — |
| Beside a hostile NPC | — | your threat % |
| Left tile | class | class for players; BOSS, ELITE, RARE or the level for NPCs |
| Party | mana or power for everyone | mana for healers only |
| Glow | something you can dispel | something you can dispel, else red when a mob is on them |
The trinket, DR and enemy spec come from FycoPvP. Without it those stay empty and everything else works.
Which mode applies. Out in the world you get PvE, and /fui frames toggle switches to PvP for
world PvP. Put it in a macro and bind it to a key. With auto-switching on (the default), arenas,
battlegrounds and Wintergrasp are always PvP, and dungeons and raids always PvE, whatever you last
picked. /fui frames auto turns that off.
Reading the chips: TRINKET means we have not seen it used, which is the most anyone can know; TRK 1:12 is the time left on it. FEAR 50% means your next Fear on them lasts half as long. Spec text is inferred from what they cast, so it stays blank until they cast something that gives it away.
Things worth knowing:
- Target and focus are laid out the way Blizzard's old frames were: buffs directly under the frame, your debuffs under the buffs, both left-aligned, and the debuffs move up when there are no buffs. FycoPvP's cast bar sits above the frame, separate from all of that. Place only the unit frame and everything follows. Either can be turned off under Options → FycoUI → Unit frames.
- Moving a docked piece: drag the cast bar, buff row or debuff row while unlocked and it keeps
that spot relative to its frame, across
/fui lockand/reload, and still follows the frame. A dragged debuff row stays put instead of moving up when there are no buffs./fui frames reset(or/fui reset) puts them all back on the frame. - Blizzard's target frame also carried the target's buffs and debuffs. With it hidden, FycoPvP's Auras module (turn on show every debuff) and its Dispel buff bar replace them.
- Your pet's debuffs show beside the pet frame, as Blizzard's pet frame did: up to four, bordered in their dispel-type colour, with stacks and time left. Hover the pet frame for its tooltip; the icons have none of their own. Off under Options → FycoUI → Unit frames.
- Raid frames: eight group columns of five, compact, with the same dispel and aggro glows and range fading as party. Battlegrounds are raids, so you get them there too. Party frames step aside in a raid. A roster change during combat waits for combat to end before members move to their new group's column; until then every frame still shows and clicks the right person.
- Role icons — tank, healer, damage — on party, raid and your own frame while you are in a group. The game only knows roles for groups that came through the Dungeon Finder (a premade that queued together counts); those icons are solid. For any other group, FycoPvP guesses from what each person has cast, and that guess shows faded — so a faded shield means "cast like a tank", not "is the tank". Nobody gets an icon until one or the other knows.
- Party and raid members on a vehicle — the Oculus drakes, Wintergrasp siege engines, Ulduar's vehicles — show the vehicle's health, and clicking targets the vehicle, the way Blizzard's frames do. The name, class and role stay the rider's, so you can tell whose it is.
- Your own buffs and debuffs have their own gold boxes when unlocked. They stay exactly where Blizzard puts them until you drag one; after that FycoUI holds them there.
- Death knight runes and shaman totems move to sit above your player frame.
- Rogue and druid combo points show as gold pips above the target frame.
- MoveAnything is not needed, but can move these by name:
FycoUIPlayerFrame,FycoUIPetFrame,FycoUITargetFrame,FycoUITargetTargetFrame,FycoUIFocusFrame,FycoUIPartyFrame,FycoUIRaidFrame,FycoUIPlayerBuffsandFycoUIPlayerDebuffs. Size the unit frames with the Scale slider, not MoveAnything's scale, which would resize only an invisible anchor. - Set Focus from the right-click menu does not work. It is a protected action, and Blizzard
blocks it from any addon's menu. Use
/focusor a focus keybind. - No incoming-heal bars: 3.3.5a has no API for them.
- Auto-switching recognises Wintergrasp by its English zone name, and the Felhunter's dispel by its English pet family. On another language client both quietly do nothing.
Coming from FycoPvP 1.16? The unit frames used to live in FycoPvP. On your first login with FycoUI, your settings and positions move across by themselves, once.
Options → FycoUI → Chat. It works on Blizzard's own chat rather than replacing it, so everything the game's chat does still works, and the game saves your tabs itself.
- Tabs, one tick each: Guild (guild, officer, guild achievements), Party (party only), Raid (raid, raid warnings, battlegrounds), Whispers, Trade (Trade and LookingForGroup) and Loot (loot, money, skill-ups). They are real chat tabs: right-click one for Blizzard's settings (add your realm's own channels there), drag it out to make it a window. Unticking closes it; closing it from its own menu unticks it.
- Only in their tab: takes what the tabs show out of General, so guild chat is only under Guild. Off, General keeps everything as well. Turning it off puts back exactly what it took.
- Hide the chat (or
/fui chat): gone from the screen, still collecting every message. Enter still opens the box to type, and with Show it while I type the chat comes back until you send. Hide it in combat does the same only while you fight. - Look: text size, class-coloured names, timestamps (with or without seconds), short channel
names (
[G],[P],[2]), text that never fades, and hiding the scroll arrows, chat menu and friends button. - Using it: clickable web links (click to copy), a faster mouse wheel (Shift jumps to the top or
bottom), and a 1000-line history instead of 128 (needs a
/reload). /fui lockunlocks the chat windows too, the same as Unlock Window on each one.
Every option is safe in combat: none of Blizzard's chat frames are protected.
FycoUI:RegisterUnlock("MyAddon cooldown bar",
function(on) -- show a draggable preview when on, lock when off
myFrame:EnableMouse(on)
end,
function() -- optional: back to the default position
myFrame:ClearAllPoints()
myFrame:SetPoint("CENTER", UIParent, "CENTER", 0, -200)
end)set must set the state it is given, not flip it: it can be called with the state it is
already in. Your addon keeps saving its own frame's position; FycoUI only decides when frames can
move.
