  • What: Added a missing 'Error handling' test block for fetchActivity in src/lib/__tests__/github.test.ts. Also fixed existing fetchActivity tests that were lacking sufficient mock fetch responses for multiple parallel API requests.
  • Coverage: Tested throwing UserNotFoundError (404), RateLimitError (403), and gracefully breaking and returning successfully accumulated results on generic API errors (500).
  • Result: fetchActivity now has full test coverage for success paths, partial failure paths, and hard failure paths. Reduced console noise during test runs.

Summary of Changes

Hello, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request significantly enhances the robustness and reliability of the fetchActivity function by introducing dedicated error handling tests and refining existing test mocks. The changes ensure that the function correctly handles various API error scenarios, such as user not found, rate limiting, and generic server errors, while also improving the accuracy of existing test cases by providing complete mock responses for multi-page API calls.

Highlights

  • Error Handling Tests: Added a new test block for error handling within the fetchActivity function, covering UserNotFoundError (404), RateLimitError (403), and graceful handling of generic API errors (500).
  • Improved Test Mocks: Fixed existing fetchActivity tests by providing sufficient mock fetch responses for multiple parallel API requests, ensuring more accurate test scenarios.
  • Enhanced Test Coverage: Achieved full test coverage for fetchActivity, including success paths, partial failure paths, and hard failure paths, leading to reduced console noise during test runs.

Code Review

The pull request significantly improves the test coverage for the fetchActivity function, particularly regarding error handling and the correct processing of multiple API pages. The existing tests have been updated to accurately mock responses for parallel API requests, which enhances their reliability. The new error handling tests for UserNotFoundError, RateLimitError, and generic API errors (500) ensure that the function behaves as expected under various failure conditions, including gracefully returning partial results on generic API errors. This is a valuable addition to the codebase's robustness.
