Understanding biodiversity–ecosystem function and biodiversity–stability relationships across spatial and organizational scales
GorBEEa is an ERC Consolidator Grant project led by Ainhoa Magrach at the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) (2024–2028; ERC Grant Agreement No. 101086771).
The project investigates how biodiversity influences ecosystem functioning and stability across spatial, temporal and organizational scales, using plant–pollinator communities and their interaction networks as a model system. GorBEEa combines field observations, ecological network analysis, experimental approaches, predictive modelling, and molecular and genomic tools to understand how global change and ecological perturbations affect biodiversity and ecosystem dynamics.
A major component of the project focuses on wild pollinators and their gut microbiomes, integrating metabarcoding, metagenomics and bioinformatics to investigate microbial community composition, functional diversity, plant–pollinator interactions, and the effects of environmental change and managed honeybee introductions.
This repository contains code, workflows and computational resources developed for the molecular ecology, microbiome and bioinformatics components of the GorBEEa project.
