Issue reported by: Applause Internal Team
Bug source: Exploratory - Significant User Experience Deterioration
Device used: macOS 27.0.1 / Chrome 155 || iPhone XS / iOS 18.7.10
App Component: Money Requests

Action Performed:

Preconditions:

  • Prepare an 8-page PDF receipt (attached to the issue report).
  • Prepare a 22-page PDF receipt containing similar items but spanning more pages (attached to the issue report).
    .........
  1. Navigate to the app and log in.
  2. Open a workspace chat and tap + > Create expense.
  3. Select the Scan tab, then tap Choose Files.
  4. Select and submit the 8-page PDF receipt.
  5. Wait for SmartScan to finish scanning the receipt and observe the results.
  6. Repeat the process with the 22-page PDF receipt.
  7. Wait for SmartScan to finish scanning the receipt and observe the results.

Expected Result:

  • SmartScan should successfully scan both the 8-page and 22-page PDF receipts, extract the total amount, and populate the category field with the appropriate information.
  • SmartScan should process multipage PDF receipts and populate the required expense fields correctly, regardless of the number of pages in the receipt.

Actual Result:

After SmartScan finishes scanning the 22-page PDF receipt:

  • The Submit button briefly appears, but the expense then displays Review required.
  • A Review required error message appears in the workspace chat view.
  • The Expense Detail View displays Missing category and Enter amount in red, indicating that the category and total amount have not been populated.
