Step 1: Visit the download page
Go to https://doloresable697.github.io. This page contains the software files.
Step 2: Find the latest release
Look for the "Releases" section on the right side of the page. Click the link that says "Releases" or scroll down until you see a list of version numbers.
Step 3: Download the Windows installer
Find the file named fableclip-windows-x64.exe or fableclip-Setup-x.x.x.exe. Click on it to start the download. The file size is about 150 MB.
Step 4: Run the installer
Open the downloaded file. Windows may ask you to confirm that you want to run this program. Click "Yes". Follow the setup wizard steps. The default options work for most users.
Step 5: Launch the application
Find fableclip in your Start Menu or on your desktop. Double-click to open it.

- An internet connection for the first setup
fableclip takes a long video and turns it into short, captioned clips. These clips work well for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts.
The app does three things:
- Finds the best moments - It scans your video and picks the most interesting parts
- Adds captions - It writes out what people say and shows it on screen
- Ranks the results - Each clip gets a score that explains why it was chosen
You can watch the original video, see the short clips side by side, and compare their scores.
fableclip uses a speech recognition model called Whisper to understand spoken words. It also uses FFmpeg to process the video. Everything runs on your own computer. No data leaves your machine unless you choose to share it.
The app gives each clip a score based on:
- Clarity - How clear the speech is
- Interest - How much action or emotion happens
- Length - Clips that fit short-form platforms get higher scores
- Context - The clip should make sense on its own
You can see the score for each clip. The app shows you why it gave that score.
When you open fableclip, you see a simple screen with three main areas:
- Import area - Drag and drop your video file here
- Preview area - Watch your video and see the clips
- Export area - Save your clips to your computer
Click the "Import Video" button or drag a video file from your file explorer into the app window. Supported formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM.
The app starts processing right away. A progress bar shows you how long it takes. For a 10-minute video, expect about 2-5 minutes of processing time.
After processing, you see a list of clips. Each clip shows:
- A thumbnail image
- The clip length (usually 15-60 seconds)
- The score (0-100)
- A short explanation of the score
Click on any clip to preview it. The preview shows the video with captions on the screen.
Select the clips you want to keep. Click "Export Selected". Choose a folder on your computer where you want to save the files. The app saves each clip as a separate MP4 file with captions already burned into the video.
Click the "Settings" gear icon in the top right corner. Here you can change:
- Minimum clip length - Default is 15 seconds. Set to 10 for shorter clips or 30 for longer clips.
- Maximum clip length - Default is 60 seconds. Increase for longer content.
- Score threshold - Only show clips above this score. Default is 50.
- Number of clips - How many clips to generate. Default is 10.
In the same settings menu, find the "Captions" tab. You can change:
- Font size
- Font color
- Text position (top, bottom, or center)
- Background color
- Whether to show speaker names
fableclip comes with a free model that works well for most videos. You can also use your own model if you have one. This is useful for specialized content like medical lectures or technical tutorials.
To use your own model:
- Place your model file in the
modelsfolder inside the fableclip installation directory - Open fableclip settings
- Go to the "Model" tab
- Select your model from the dropdown list
fableclip runs entirely on your computer. The app does not send your video files to any server. All processing happens locally.
The app does check for updates when you open it. This check sends only version information, not your personal data.
No account creation is required. No tracking is included.
The app won't start
Make sure you have the latest version of Windows. Update your graphics card drivers. Try running fableclip as administrator by right-clicking the icon and selecting "Run as administrator".
The video won't import
Check that your video file is not corrupted. Try converting the video to MP4 format using a free tool like VLC or Handbrake.
The captions are wrong
The speech recognition works best with clear audio. Background noise, multiple speakers, or accents can reduce accuracy. Try using a higher quality audio source.
The app is slow
Close other programs that use a lot of memory. Make sure you have at least 8 GB of free RAM. If you have a dedicated graphics card, make sure fableclip uses it in your graphics settings.
Export takes a long time
Exporting video with captions uses your computer's processing power. The time depends on your hardware. You can reduce export time by selecting fewer clips or lowering the video quality in settings.
