TqdmWarning: IProgress not found. Please update jupyter and ipywidgets when importing tqdm - How to fix?

Answer

This warning occurs because tqdm attempts to render interactive HTML progress bars inside Jupyter Notebook, but the required backend module (ipywidgets) is missing or undetected in your active virtual environment.

To resolve this, install ipywidgets inside your project's active virtual environment using your package manager.

For example, if you are using uv:

uv add ipywidgets

Or use pip install ipywidgets / conda install -c conda-forge ipywidgets depending on your environment setup.

After installing, restart your notebook kernel or reload the window in VS Code for the change to take effect.
