The "Build and Publish" workflow job failed at the Central Portal validation step when trying to publish a datadog-serverless-compat-java release. This was the error message:
The last successful publish was v0.22.0 (Oct 2), with this same pom and workflow. This issue is called out in sonatype-nexus-community/central-publishing-maven-plugin#1.
Root cause
runs-on: ubuntu-latest, so it picks up GitHub's runner image updates. Between the v0.22.0 publish (imageubuntu24/20260927.320, per the run log) and now, the preinstalled Maven went from 3.9.16 to 3.10.0. The v0.23.0 runs on image20261018.339logApache Maven 3.10.0.file://staging directory as a local repository and writesmaven-metadata-local.xml,_remote.repositories(plus checksums) and a.locksdirectory into it.central-publishing-maven-plugin0.8.0 only deletesmaven-metadata-central-staging.xml(the Maven 3.9 file name), so the new files end up in the bundle.maven-metadata-local.xmlsits at the artifactId level with no.pombeside it, which is the path Central flags.unzip -loncentral-bundle.zip) showed 30 files, includingcom/datadoghq/dd-serverless-compat-java-agent/maven-metadata-local.xmland0.23.0/_remote.repositories*. The real.pomwas present under0.23.0/.Change
pom.xml:org.sonatype.central:central-publishing-maven-plugin0.8.0→0.12.0. Nothing else changes: no workflow edits, no Maven pin.
