GitBot – GitHub File Collector

Search for files by name across recently pushed GitHub repositories and download them locally.

Setup

# Install dependencies
pip install -r requirements.txt

# Set your GitHub personal access token (required for code search)
export GITHUB_TOKEN=ghp_your_token_here

Generate a token at https://github.com/settings/tokens — no special scopes needed for public repos.

Run

python app.py

Open http://127.0.0.1:5000 in your browser, type a filename like apple.jpg or code.cpp, and click Collect.

Downloaded files are saved under collections/<filename>/.
