Organising principle: every competitor's validation tooling is a diagnostic the user may ignore; keel's promotion gate refuses. Adopt their validation EVIDENCE as gate inputs rather than importing their features. Design boundaries (shorting, leverage, futures, market making, arbitrage, ML, market-data-driven pair selection, hyperopt) are recorded in the PRD as explicit non-goals.     A first-time user downloads one file, installs, and reaches a working keel without typing a command. Blocked on four architectural properties before any packaging step is meaningful: CWD-relative state, the un-overridable TTY gate, curses-on-Windows, and a first-run ceremony that includes decisions no installer can make.   • Phase 12 — Stocks via Alpaca (keel-broker-alpaca)

    US equities through the broker port: a keel-broker-alpaca adapter (Alpaca Trading API, paper first) that passes the port conformance suite with zero changes to the engine core, an equities paper profile accruing hash-chained evidence, and a cost-fidelity restatement (regulatory fees, spread, data tiers) benchmarked against DCA on the same tickers. PRD: docs/superpowers/specs/2026-08-18-keel-broker-alpaca-prd.md Lineage: Phase 5 — Broker port & second venue (milestone 8; #233 capability-based venue visibility and #198 Robinhood live-path prerequisites remain open there and interact with this work).
