Wallpaper Engine for KDE — Wiki

A wallpaper plugin integrating Wallpaper Engine content into KDE Plasma 6 wallpaper settings.

Originally derived from catsout/wallpaper-engine-kde-plugin, now maintained as an independent project focused on Plasma 6 + Qt 6, with the Python dependency removed and the KDE 6.5+ theme-reactivity bug fixed.

Getting started

1. Installation — AUR, COPR for Fedora/Bazzite/rpm-ostree, .deb for Ubuntu/Debian, or build from source.
2. First-Run Setup — point the plugin at your Steam library.
3. Usage — day-to-day, per-screen wallpapers, per-wallpaper properties.

About this project

• ✅ No Python dependency — file operations are native C++ (no more python-websockets issues)
• ✅ KDE 6.5+ theme reactivity fixed — UI no longer disappears when switching light/dark themes
• ✅ Plasma 6 / Qt 6 target

If you're on Plasma 5, this project is not for you — use the Qt5 branch of the original catsout project.
