What

We need to provide AEC with 8760s of BAU case and increased_HP_adoption (due to rate change) cases for electricity usage, along with gas/oil/propane. This will be for years 2028-2031.

Why

To let AEC compute 1a/b/c/d in the BCA

How (optional)

  • Use BSF data for RI in S3
  • Read BSF data using MixedUpgradeScenarios from S3
  • For the BAU case, use the 2028-2031 adoption levels in the Base scenario from the HP Adoption forecast in RIE's 2024 Peak Forecast study (machine-readable dataset here)
    • We decided this on 2/4/2025 on call with AEC
  • For the increased_HP_adoption case, develop method to generate plausible year-by-year additional adoption estimates based on the delta between…
    • % of RIE customers who can lower their bills by switching to heat pumps under default rates, and
    • % of RIE customers who can lower their bills by switching to heat pumps under HP rate
    • But! Since we don't have this delta yet, we'll need to base our initial, "back-of-the-envelope" increased_HP_adoption case on the equivalent delta from our MA report
      • See Figure 5 for any fuel -> HP bill changes
      • See Figure 12 for nat gas -> HP bill changes
      • Double check, but it looks like only about 50% of RI homes heat with natural gas, in which case we should use the Fig. 5 delta

Deliverables

  • Script that takes HP adoption in both scenarios, computes 8760s, and uploads to google sheet
