Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Yes, the problem arises from the ease with which files can be unintentionally deleted. I'm always frustrated when I accidentally delete a file using the 'File delete' command in Visual Studio Code, especially when these files are not yet tracked by version control systems like Git. There is currently no safeguard against accidental deletion for files that haven't been added to 'git add', leading to permanent loss unless the files are recoverable from system backups.
Describe the solution you'd like
I would like the vscode-fileutils to include an option to enable a confirmation dialog for the 'File delete' command. This confirmation should prompt the user to verify their intention to delete the specified file(s). Moreover, I suggest this confirmation option be enabled by default. This will prevent accidental deletions and provide an additional layer of safety for files, particularly those not yet committed to version control systems.
Describe alternatives you've considered
An alternative is to manually back up files before deletion, but this is cumbersome and prone to human error. Another option could be to use a version control system's features for recovery, but this is not always possible if the files are not yet tracked. Thus, having built-in confirmation for the delete command within the IDE could be a much more effective safety measure.
Additional context
Accidental file deletion is a common issue that can disrupt workflow and result in loss of progress, especially in cases where VS Code's command palette has been used previously for deletion and the 'File delete' command is inadvertently triggered again. This feature request aims to address this risk by introducing a simple yet crucial confirmation step that could save users from losing important work.
