emailstatus in lightning

Hello, it seems that emailstatus is not enabled in lightning when emails are sent via external services, e.g. GMAIL/OUTLOOK. Have you tried this case? This makes it impossible to track the open status of emails sent with a service different from the salesforce builtin one.

Is this a known issue or just related to settings? I was considering that maybe emails sent via 3rd party services such as Gmail/Outlook will be stored in an object other than EmailMessage with EmailStatus and that maybe we could get the status from there?
