Download/upload a file from/to the web-terminal container

Hi Team,

Is there a way to perform download/upload a file from/to the web-terminal container there?

For example if we'd like to upload yaml and perform "oc apply -f" there, or download the yaml from "oc get deploy -A -o yaml >./myfile.yaml", it would be nice to download or upload the yaml file instead of copy pasting the text to/from the UI there.

I also found the tracker at WTO-87 was still at unknown state with inactive reporter and assignee? 😕

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but you can create an automount config map that will mount the content of a file to all your web terminals in a specific namespace. Here's a script that lets you easily do this.

So it works differently, need to switch our mindset on it 😃 (e.g. fetching local file located in webterminal, means to create configmap using configmap-creator.sh and then go to console portal > Workloads > ConfigMaps to download thru copy paste, while uploading file into webterminal means to create config map from console portal and fetch it thru command "oc get configmap xxx" 😵)

The configmap-creator.sh script and console portal have caveat that they cannot create/accept binary file and need manual conversion to/from base64. It would be nice to provide some convenient ways like making the script available locally as part of installed tool, adding auto detect of binary vs text with base64 conversion in the configmap-creator.sh, etc

Wonder if there is plan to make it more convenient with natural file transfer like adding simple vsftpd service in the webterminal pod to be exposed thru NodePort or http route? 😊
