🎉 FeatBit v6.0.0: A New Experience for Feature Management & Experimentation
FeatBit v6.0.0 brings a redesigned React UI, a completely rebuilt experimentation system, a new Control Plane module for multi-data-center deployments, and a new Insights processing pipeline.
Highlights
1. A redesigned UI, rebuilt with React
The frontend has been rewritten in React, introducing a more modern design, clearer workflows, and a more intuitive experience across feature flags, segments, experiments, and administration.
Identity and Access Management (IAM) has received particular attention. The redesigned experience makes it easier to configure access, find and inspect permissions, and test permission behavior—helping administrators understand who can access what and manage permissions with greater confidence.
2. Rebuilt experimentation, with one fewer service to operate
The standalone Python Data Analytics service (
da-server, imagefeatbit/featbit-data-analytics-server) has been retired. There are now only three application services in a standard FeatBit deployment: the UI, API server, and Evaluation Server.Experimentation has been redesigned and implemented from the ground up, with support for:
3. Control Plane for multi-data-center deployments
The new
control-planemodule is designed to address data synchronization, change propagation, and consistency across FeatBit deployments spanning multiple data centers. It coordinates changes between the API and evaluation servers, with support for Redis cache recovery and an opt-inGatedCommitconsistency mode.Control Plane is disabled by default. It is an optional additional service for deployments that need these capabilities; the standard deployment does not require it.
This module was contributed entirely by WebstaurantStore. Its development was mainly done by @wss-rbrennan and @wss-cadenwheeler. Thank you to the WebstaurantStore team for contributing this work to the FeatBit community.
4. A new Insights processing pipeline
Insights message ingestion and processing have been reworked. The legacy
eventstable is no longer used by the new pipeline; experiment exposure and metric events are now stored separately, with dedicated storage and query paths for PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and ClickHouse deployments.Upgrade Guide
The Upgrade to v6 guide covers the recommended v5.4.10 starting version, database migrations, configuration changes, and historical data handling. Review the guide for your deployment and validate the upgrade in a test or pre-production environment before upgrading production.
