I can no longer make phone calls

Hi,
since a few days, I can no longer make phone calls. If I am called, I hear the ringtone, but I cannot answer. When I open the app, I can see my contacts and recent (missed!) calls, but when I try to start a call I get a black screen. Only way out is to close the app.

It seems like there is something wrong with my Android, since the Google Phone app keeps asking me to set it as default, and I try to, but the setting does not seem to be remembered.

Any ideas?

It seems like there is something wrong with my Android, since the Google Phone app keeps asking me to set it as default, and I try to, but the setting does not seem to be remembered.

I would try the following two things.

1. Go to the settings of Fossify Phone. You can do this by long-pressing the icon of the app and select "settings" (or similar). Another way is by using the "Settings" app -> Apps and notifications (or similar) -> See all apps (or similar) -> Fossify Phone.
   Once you are in the settings, look for "Open by default" and then "Clear defaults".
   Do the same process for all phone apps you have installed, included Google Phone.

2. Reset Google Phone to the initial version you had in your phone. To do so, go to its settings (like in point 1) -> look for three dots in upper-right part of the screen -> Unistall updates.

After you have done the previous points, try to set the default phone app again -> "Settings" app -> Apps and notifications (or similar) -> Default apps -> Phone app -> Select Fossify Phone.

See if anything changed.

   Still no luck: under Default apps -> Phone app -> I see Fossify and Google (and some others), but I cannot select any. It blinks, but the bullet does not get filled and the setting is not remembered. This is the case with all default apps (SMS, browser, mail, ...)

Hope you do not need that. Maybe first try Settings -> Apps -> See all -> Three dots menu -> Reset app preferences .
