Steps to reproduce

Type a path like c:\windows\system32
Hit ctrl-backspace

Expected Behavior

Expect "system32" to delete.
Hit ctrl-backspace again
Expect "windows" to delete

Actual Behavior

The entire path disappears.
ConEmu does the right ctrl-backspace behavior.

This is really annoying when I've typed a long path but the last segment is wrong and I need to back up.

This looks like the same behavior as #4986 and #11492, the latter of which is the canonical thread for Ctrl+Backspace not respecting word delimiters in conpty sessions. Earlier report: #755; related pwsh fix: #17139. Likely a duplicate of #11492.

As a possible workaround, #4986 suggests setting HKCU\Console\WordDelimiters as a String (REG_SZ) value, but some people in #11492 said that didn't help for them.

To fix this, we would need to pass down word delimiters down into ConPTY. In-proc ConPTY would fix this and is the correct architectural approach to this issue. It'll be closed with #15976.
