I found various guidance on the Web wrt recovering from similar situations but none of it helped.

That is unfortunate. I may look into this in the future but it won't be soon.

The durable fix is to rename wiki pages to portable slugs that avoid Windows-reserved filename characters, then update internal links and keep redirects/index entries for old URLs where the wiki host permits. A CI job that clones/checks the wiki on Windows would catch future page names containing :, *, or other invalid characters. Publishing a generated offline guide archive could also avoid tying user documentation access to Git's platform-specific path rules.
