Combat Window

Simu is pushing through their combat windows changes next week to all DR players. Wasn't sure you saw the notice from Simu to other FE developers: "This is your final notice to make sure these changes do not break your FE."

Just wanted to make sure it was on your radar!

Ok, thanks for letting me know, i was not aware of these changes.

I looked it up and as far as i can tell there's not much else to it other than they're moving all combat to push-streams. Text parsing however does need to be adjusted to support this change.

Just for the record. I know javac has been trying to find ways to reduce combat scroll for years, maybe that helps. I guess i'm on board with the combat window and for now, i'm thinking of giving it same treatment as familiar window -- if closed then everything falls back to the story window as usual. To make both options available.

Thanks but i'm afraid this is always going to be an issue with the design decisions i've made in the past to have static windows and not be server driven like stormfront and others. Partly because i was put off by the slow start up when running stormfront and partly because i just wanted to clean up some extra features for a more robust/basic experience.

I've barely tested this but there really isn't much time for testing assuming "early next week" is already here. I have the fixed version up for testing or bare minimum it should work with new combat.

Having an issue with scripts and the combat window. Scripts are unable to match anything that is now in the combat window, whether it's active or not.

Pretty sure, 1.12.0b. An example is the default script anal.rb won't work.

Sorry, i think i made some changes after testing that looked fine in story window but i didn't realize it broke scripting. There was an issue with handling new lines in text that resulted in cutting off all round times.

As for the native scripting api. The new combat is kind of unprecedented and goes against previous convention. There was never any need to use push streams for scripting and the way prompts are currently handled it has to go through story window. Without going into much detail at the moment the combat window has to be closed in order for native scripting to work in combat. This might change in future updates but i don't want to make any promises.

I re-released all binaries under the same version since i didn't want to leave broken builds up. Just re-download and replace the exe/bin and hopefully that fixes it.
