Request to remove the notification area icon (Windows version)

Was wondering if it would be possible to either eliminate or make it an option to disable the notification area icon. I don't know about anyone else out there but I have a lot of icons in the notification area on the Windows taskbar and having this there when it doesn't really serve any purpose I've been able to determine seems silly. If it serves a purpose I'd like to know what that is.

If there is a way to remove it or make it an option to not have it that would be great.

It's required to provide all the standard tray functions like minimize to tray etc and can be used to show conversations when you're alt+tabbed out of the application or have it minimized.

There's honestly a lot of ui functions that should be controllable through menus and i've had plans to add all kinds of different customizable settings but i just haven't got around to implementing it. What stopped me from doing this a long time ago is that the whole settings system is currently a huge mess and needs a rework. And since i'm currently not actively playing the game, it's probably not happening any time soon i'm afraid.
