This project co-exists on GitHub and in Google's internal repository, which has a heavy dependency on Sass for production infrastructure. That's the primary reason we use it. While the project uses Sass for development and offers some Sass APIs, it is not required for end-users of the library; it all compiles to CSS when packaged, and all features (like theming) can be used without Sass. |
