Text area: what should always look the same, and what should be adjustable? #153

Hi @bhaveshraja, I'm firming up the multi-line text box (the comment-style input) in our kit and want to get the defaults right from you.

For each thing below, could you tell me whether it should always look this way (I'll bake it in so it stays consistent), or whether it should be adjustable depending on where it's used?

  1. The box around it. The text box sits inside a soft bordered container with a light fill. Should that container always look the same (same border, same fill, same rounded corners), or do you want a few looks for different places?

  2. The starting height. Out of the box it opens at about four lines tall. Should that be the standard starting height everywhere, or should each spot pick its own?

  3. The placeholder and text size. The greyed-out hint text ("Leave a comment...") and the typed text use our normal body size. Should that size and the muted hint colour always match what we have now?

  4. The error state. When something's wrong, the helper line underneath turns into a short error message and the box reads as invalid. Should that error look and placement always be the same?

Honestly this one is pretty simple, so even just confirming the box look and the starting height is enough. Anything you mark "always," I'll build in. Anything that's "depends," I'll leave open for the team. Thanks!
