Unwanted coupling with "Front End" of lattice

This should be a traveling wave:

I picked the wrong modulus, so the fact that the wave is "stationary" is fine. But observe how the left ("front") end of the lattice seems continually beset by randomness. Why is this? Perhaps it's updating incorrectly.
