Image extracted as data:image/gif;base64,... placeholder instead of real URL

When I extract this page with Defuddle:

Where Vertical Slices Fit Inside the Modular Monolith Architecture the image is extracted as a base64 placeholder:

Instead of the actual image URL, for example:

I also see similar inconsistent behavior with Obsidian Web Clipper, sometimes it captures the placeholder, and sometimes it captures the real image URL.
