Finishing legacy layout

I want to discuss:
We offer two layouts:
1)The old legacy layout with tables
2) the new responsive layout with two different looks

a)modern look
b)tablelike look

And now

1. the version for J!4+5
2. the version for J!6 legacy

So it's normal, that we forget to fix the same problem in all that variants.

Perhaps we should declare which variants are our priorities.
(e.g. I normally don't use the "handle old events=do nothing")

I propose to finish the legacy layout and to use only the 2 responsive looks (tablelike and modern).
What are you thinking?

Is it actually possible to have several layouts too in the component, like in the modules?

It's possible, but the redesign is major. JEM has a lot of inheritance from this in its structure.
Careful, this could be a major change, especially regarding migration in already configured installations.And it could be a headache.

We would need to maintain backward compatibility at a minimum and only apply it to new installations. We need to run simulation tests to decide if layouts are a solution for the structure. How many users are using JEM? How many are using default or responsive?

The idea seems easy, but inheritance and migration compatibility carry a lot of weight. If we had more money to hire people, that would be a different story, but we're just a small team :-(

For me, this is a changes with low priority.
