Font variation for letter spacing (xkcd-script-text)

If development continues in the direction of tightening the kerning, how about at some point creating a font variation called xkcd-script-text that retains the traditional feel?
I'm thinking of it like the relationship between SF Pro Display and SF Pro Text. It would be positioned as a build for those who, in xkcd-mode, don't want to significantly change the existing image.

I'd be fine with an xkcd-script-wide type variation (name to be determined), if we can do it automatically from the narrow version.
