Should the specs folder be excluded from code repo?

Hi, I'm new to the spec driven development, seems the specs folder only helpful during the spec refinement/implementation?
Should we ignore it for git repo to avoid it increasing the context for AI tooling likes claude/codex?
And are there any other folders we need to ignore explicitly?
