May I know when you will release the new goole_ml_kit_flutter version that supports SPM. I see there is an SPM branch in your repository which means it should be in progress.

Flutter is migrating to Swift Package Manager. Please add Swift Package Manager support to your plugin.

SwiftPM will be the default for all Flutter apps in the next stable release (3.44). To ensure your plugin remains compatible and prevents build failures for your users, please migrate to SwiftPM

Flutter will eventually deprecate and then remove support for CocoaPods. Adding Swift Package Manager support future-proofs your plugins.

Why is Flutter migrating to Swift Package Manager?
CocoaPods is now in maintenance mode.

Swift Package Manager support is one of Flutter's most requested features: flutter/flutter#33850.

Flutter's Swift Package Manager integration has several benefits:

Access to the Swift package ecosystem. Flutter plugins can use the growing ecosystem of Swift packages.
Simplifies Flutter installation. Swift Package Manager is bundled with Xcode. In the future, you won't need to install Ruby and CocoaPods to target iOS or macOS.

Hi @fbernaly! I have opened a PR to migrate the 8 independent plugins (mostly GenAI and stubs/unimplemented on iOS) to Swift Package Manager (SPM).

However, we have a blocker for the remaining 14 packages (including google_mlkit_commons and the active vision/natural language APIs) because they depend directly on Google's native ML Kit iOS SDK. Since Google only distributes their iOS SDK via CocoaPods and does not officially support SPM, these packages cannot be migrated directly.

Given that Google's SDK is closed-source and we cannot rebuild or package it ourselves, how would you suggest we handle these blocked packages?

@vicajilau: There is already a branch with these changes: feature/spm. Please double-check if your changes are already included there. If they are, feel free to close your PR. If not, please update your PR to target the feature/spm branch instead.
