iPad app shows blank Retry screen after login on iPadOS 26.5 #106

App:

  • Official App Store version of EteSync

Issue:
After reinstalling the iOS/iPadOS app and completing setup, I can successfully enter my credentials, but after login the app displays an empty screen with only a "Retry" button.

Tapping Retry does not resolve the issue.

Important observations:

  • Login to the web app works correctly with the same credentials.
  • The issue only occurs in the iPad app.
  • I already disabled other calendar/reminder accounts as required during setup.
  • Permissions for Calendars and Reminders were granted.
  • Reinstalling the app and rebooting the iPad did not fix the issue.

Analytics:
I found an Analytics entry corresponding to the failure with:

  • bug_type: 298

This looks like an app crash or initialization failure after authentication rather than a credential problem.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install EteSync from App Store
  2. Configure local account sync as instructed
  3. Enter valid credentials for official hosted service
  4. App transitions to blank screen with Retry button

Expected behavior:
App should complete initialization and show synced calendars/reminders/contacts.

Actual behavior:
Blank screen with Retry button; app never finishes loading.
