Feature request: render latex math in chat

I realize this may be a niche request and perhaps not worth the effort, but it would be great to have support for rendering LaTeX math in chat. I use Codex for academic work, and even lightweight support for inline and display math equations would make a noticeable difference in usability.

If this is out of scope, please feel free to close the issue. Either way, I think the app is excellent and expect it will be my primary mobile codex app regardless.

that sounds like a good feature. do you use anything special or just need it to render latex when it sees it?

Rendering support for standard delimiters such as $, \(, \[ in chat would be sufficient for my workflow. No need for full LaTeX environments or anything advanced - just simple Markdown/MathJax-style equations. Below is an example from my recent session for reference (Codex desktop app vs. Litter).

the \document, etc i think im gonna leave instead of stripping out

This is fantastic! Even desktop Claude/Codex apps cannot render the commands (\begin, \end etc.) so leaving them as is is completely fine. I look forward to trying this version, thank you!

I just tried v1.0.2—thanks for pushing this update so quickly. The new rendering is a clear improvement.

One remaining issue: all LaTeX math is currently rendered as display equations (shown in a separate line), including expressions that should appear inline (e.g., $...$ or (...)).

Sharing a screenshot for reference in case it helps diagnose the issue.

thanks! should be fixed now with the last update, lmk if u see any issues. it might flash to unstyled briefly while streaming, but thats a different issue

LaTeX works great in the latest update! Only two issues I’m seeing (not really about LaTeX anymore, but figured it might be worth mentioning in case they’re related to rendering changes):

1. Font sizes appear inconsistent, both between my messages and the agent’s, and within the agent’s response. Attaching a screenshot.
2. Markdown tables don’t seem to render properly anymore (they used to work fine before the update)

Again, these may be beyond the scope of this issue, but wanted to flag just in case. Thanks again for adding this feature so quickly.
