Extension is very slow/freezing when typing prompts (Claude Code)

Problem

The extension has become in the past 3-4 days extremely slow and freezes when typing prompts in the input box. Characters appear with delay and the UI becomes unresponsive. This happens even in brand new conversations.

This was NOT happening before - it worked fine until about a few days ago.

What I tried

• Starting new conversations
• Restarting Visual Studio
• Deleting the .claude folder in my user directory to reset state
• The issue persists

Environment

• Visual Studio version: 2022 17.14
• Windows version: Windows 10
• Extension version: latest

Everything is slow/laggy - feels like the whole extension is frozen or struggling. Even fresh conversations have the same problem.

Also I tested here all 6 AI Code Agent provided and I can't reproduce your problem.

Published version 3.8 with tentative fix. AI identified that theme check pooling every 2 seconds might cause the lags. Updated to use event driven approach to check VS.NET theme changes. Please check and verify if it helps.

Sent old version 3.6 to user and hopefully it will work. No other user reported same issue, so I would recommend testing extension in another machine to try to isolate the problem. Thank you!
