The help page https://d-bl.github.io/GroundForge-help/snow-mix/droste/ inspired for a variant of the snow mixer using two droste steps. To prevent duplicating code again, this issue evolved into the development of new widgets, one of which can generate variants of pages with (technically) minor differences. jsdoc.pdf of widgets (28 Jan 2025)

A single javasript creates different page versions. Previews of the work in progress (when hybrid branch is published)

  A simple to use version to make variations of the patterns from tesselace-gf and most from MAE-gf

  Basic droste page, in essence the current droste page shows two pair-from-thread steps on a single page. The new version of the droste page shows up to three steps, but one at a time.
• https://jo-pol.github.io/GroundForge/drosteMixer independent step levels for pairs and threads, specs initially not collapsed, field 'droste applied to basic stitch', galleries for snow with droste.
  See connections types. The page mix4snow has the sipdery connections, the drosteMixer has the asymmetrical connections. The drosteMixer provides 3/6 pair as well as some 4/8 pair bolletjes, mix4snow only 3/6. The snow galleries require to have the thread step one level higher than the pair diagram, control hoever is completely in the hands of the user.

The sub-issues were reported for other pages or current versions of the droste and stitches pages. These issues should be tested thoroughly, some still need to be developed.

Some other points of attention or still to be developed features:

• what happens when mixing 3/6 pair recipes with 4/8 pair recipes.

• default foot side stitch: ttt

• swatch size, shown but shows not-yet-implementd

• Only invalid step number values are fixed (without beep) though value 3 is still (but should not be) allowed for the droste galleries.

• Navigation, for example to pattern page. Currently, only when making changing, a link to the changed pattern appears.

• Content pasted into the specs fields should be protected against injection of malicious code

• Suppress clutter on prints with special CSS class.

Maybe split the droste page in two, one for each step, with two variants for the first step. One variant for the first step with the simple stitch gallery, one variant as described in the top message with galleries for complex stitches.
Name suggestions:

• drostes/step1
• drostes/step2
• drostes/mix

Once the current droste page is reduced to links to the new pages, the old tiles page should directly link to the new pages.

Technical hint: Develop scripts that adds a diagram together with a full caption/tool bar to a page. Move the color chooser into the toolbar for thread diagrams. This could avoid a lot of the current duplication.

Do you need seperate pages for step 1 and step 2?
If you feed the "output" of step 1 again into the "step 1 page" instead of in "step 2 page", you could do with only 1 page.

You then only need a button on step 1 like "one more step".

Even more:
The output of page Stitches thread diagram can be fed again into page Stitches !
Then no seperate page Droste is needed.

The examples on https://d-bl.github.io/GroundForge/API/ concentrate on generating and animating SVG diagrams. A redesign of the pages could use a more widget like organization of the panels. The mixer is moving into that direction but is not very modular. A core widget would be a panel with optional sets of controls in the diagram caption.
