I was interested in this notice in recent blog post: "We currently read the full PG data dir on every backup, then dedup against the chunk pool."
A standby server is shadowing datafiles of its primary by taking full copy for first time only and applying WALs continuously. So I suppose that only one full copy with continuous WAL stream should be enough for the backup tool as well. AFAIK booth is used in hardstorage.
It would be great if creating another backup just meant building the manifest. What do you think?
