Workaround: I change my magic context threshold to a higher threshold and restart opencode. Next compacting work with that. It looks like magic context cannot self-recover if for some reason, the context did grow bigger than the threshold

Thanks for the timeline — it actually helps split this into two separate things.

The cache misses in your chart are not Magic Context reductions. A mostly-green timeline like yours is the cache working; the scattered small red misses on an otherwise stable prefix are provider-side (cache TTL expiry after idle gaps, provider evictions), not MC rewriting your context. A historian run by itself never busts the cache — its results are held and folded in on the next natural rebuild, precisely to avoid surprise misses. The two large drops line up with your own actions, and both are expected one-time rebuilds: the first is the threshold change + restart (a config/model-limit change forces one full re-materialization), the second is /ctx-recomp, which rebuilds the compacted structure from scratch and necessarily re-writes the prefix once. Neither indicates something wrong.

The real issue is the first part — context growing past the threshold without reduction — and there I'd like to pin two suspects:

1. OpenCode 1.15.13 is far behind the plugin's tested line. Several 1.15-era differences affect the summarizer's child sessions (we've reproduced historian failures on 1.15.x ourselves). Upgrading OpenCode is the first thing to try.
2. execute_threshold_tokens values are clamped at 80% of the model's resolved context limit. If mimo-v2.5-pro resolves to a lower limit than you expect, your 270000 is being silently reduced — which would also explain why raising the threshold appeared to fix scheduling. /ctx-status shows the effective threshold and what the historian currently sees.

On "cannot self-recover above the threshold": there's no such cliff by design — above the threshold the historian fires more aggressively, and ≥85% adds emergency reclaim on top. If it still reproduces after the OpenCode upgrade, please attach /ctx-status output while the context is above the threshold plus a fresh doctor --issue dump, and I'll trace the exact run that failed to reduce.

Interestingly, I’m actually running OpenCode 1.18.0. I suspect the debug tool picked up another installation on my machine.

As for the model, it has a 1M token context limit, so I’m not sure why the threshold would be getting clamped. I’ll definitely keep an eye on it, and if I run into the issue again I’ll share the /ctx-status output.

Thanks — that closes the clamp theory (1M limit) and opens a different, useful lead: doctor --issue reporting 1.15.13 while you run 1.18.0 means the doctor picked up a different OpenCode installation on your machine than the one actually running. That's a diagnostics gap on our side; tracking an improvement to enumerate all detected installs and mark the active one. If the growth-past-threshold recurs, /ctx-status output at that moment is exactly the evidence that will pin it.
