Prof. Sandeep appointed Mittal Foundation Chair in Climate Sciences
</h3>
<p>
We are delighted to share that Prof. Sandeep Sukumaran has been
appointed as the <em>Mittal Foundation Chair Professor in Climate
Sciences</em> at IIT Delhi. The appointment is for a period of three
years, beginning July 2025.

This recognition by the IIT Delhi Board of Governors highlights his
contributions to advancing tropical climate dynamics and monsoon
research. The Chair will support further innovation in monsoon
forecasting and climate science initiatives at the lab.

AI transforming meteorological prediction
</h3>
<p>
Our recent research on tropical cyclones and Monsoon
Intraseasonal Oscillations (MISO), conducted under the guidance
of Professors Sandeep Sukumaran and Hairprasad Kodamana, has
garnered widespread attention. The studies have been published
in the
<em
>Journal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and
Computation</em
>
and featured in several prominent national media outlets.
