I've always been a proponent of the shame.css approach mentioned on CSS Wizardry.
I propose formalizing some sort of standard for a _shame.scss partial where those few hacks that may be necessary can live until they can be refactored out of the codebase.
I don't know exactly what this standard looks like yet; it would probably just be a _shame.scss partial in the sass/global directory.
