Add profiling scripts

I have some old profiling scripts that should be updated and included in the project's scripts dir. They profile the performance of the application for typical processing inputs. We can use them to track performance changes/regressions during development.

This is interesting. Today I learned that the built-in cProfile module does not profile multi-threaded applications easily. I'll have to either get creative with it or use something else like yappi.
