💡 Ideas & Feature Requests — What would you like to see in Applegate Monitor?

[X4Applegate]

Hey everyone! 👋

Applegate Monitor has grown a lot recently — v3.1.9 just shipped with Square POS monitoring, Google OAuth, sub-sections, mobile nav, and a full security hardening pass.

Now I want to hear from you. What would make this tool better for your homelab, your clients, or your business?

🗳️ Here are some ideas I'm already thinking about — vote with 👍 or share your thoughts:

Monitoring & Check Types

• 📊 Prometheus / metrics endpoint checks — poll a /metrics endpoint and alert when a gauge crosses a threshold
• 🐳 Docker container health checks — monitor container status directly from the Docker socket
• 🔔 SNMP checks — poll network devices via SNMP (switches, UPS, printers)
• 📡 Omada Switch port monitoring — per-port up/down status on managed switches
• 🌐 Keyword / content matching on HTTP checks — alert if a page body doesn't contain an expected string

Alerts & Notifications

• 📱 PagerDuty integration — escalate critical alerts to on-call rotations
• 🔁 Alert escalation rules — notify a second destination if the first goes unacknowledged
• 🕐 Maintenance windows — silence alerts for scheduled downtime without disabling the check
• 📊 Weekly summary digest — email or webhook summary of uptime stats every Monday

Dashboard & UI

• 🗺️ Map / location view — pin servers to a geographic map (great for MSPs with multi-site clients)
• 📌 Pin / favourite servers — surface critical servers at the top of the dashboard
• 🎨 More badge styles — flat, plastic, social variants for README embeds
• 📷 Public status page — fully unauthenticated read-only page per group with no login prompt

Platform

• 🔑 API key authentication — machine-to-machine access for CI/CD pipelines
• 📤 Import / export server config — JSON or CSV bulk import for new deployments
• 🔄 Multi-node / distributed monitoring — run agents at multiple locations and aggregate results
• 📦 Plugin / custom check type — run a user-defined script and interpret exit code as up/down

💬 Tell me what you need!

Don't see your idea above? Drop it in the comments. I read every response.

Some things that help me prioritise:

• What are you using Applegate Monitor for? (homelab, MSP, small business, etc.)
• What's the biggest pain point right now?
• Is there a feature from another tool you wish this had?

Thanks for using the project — your feedback shapes every release. 🙌
