What?

All import posts maintain the original GUID except for the media attachments.
Should the GUID field of the newly created posts be updated when using the importer?

I believe part of the historical reason for this, is that it used to be common to use the guid to get a public URI to the attachment, instead of using the wp functions.

That's not something that I think would matter today.
