According the QT documentation, support for silicon is only fully integrated in QT6. This requires a major overhaul...

Basing on our conversation with Arne, I composed a description how to build the macOS application on the current version macOS, namely 26 Tahoe, see readme_macos_app.txt in the repository. In particular, one must switch the branches and patch Qt.

There are two issues concerning Qt:

1. The original repository git://code.qt.io/qt/qt5.git contains Qt5 as well as Qt6. The branch "dev", that becomes the current branch directly after cloning, refers to the latest version of Qt6. This library is incompatible with Qt5 used in the current version of ProMesh. This should be a general problem for all architectures, but e.g. for Linux, one does not normally compile qt himself. But if so, the solution is to switch to a branch with Qt5:
   git clone git://code.qt.io/qt/qt5.git
   cd qt5
   git checkout 5.15.17
   git submodule update --init --recursive

2. There is a further serious issue which is specific to macOS. Namely, ProMesh uses OpenGL. In the last versions of macOS, OpenGL is considered as "deprecated". In macOS 26 Tahoe, it is still present, but its framework and headers are excluded from the standard settings. One must include these settings into the build configuration explicitly. This is already done in Qt6 dev branch. In the Qt5 branches, one must patch the qtbase/mkspecs/common/mac.conf file:
   Replace Lines 21-22 by
   /System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework/Headers
   (former line 21 without "" at the end)
   Replace (original) Line 33 by
   QMAKE_LIBS_OPENGL = -framework OpenGL
   (remove " -framework AGL" at the end)
   Alternatively: Replace the entire file with its version in the dev branch from the same repository (i.e. from qt6) and you get the same effect.
   This is a quick-hack. The final solution would be completing the development of ProMesh for Qt6 as already in progress in branch upgrade/qt-6.
