When trying to quickly deploy freelancers to major incidents, alerts depend on users having specific channels enabled. If they don’t, they miss the notification entirely. This creates delays and forces us to rely on external apps just to reach a small, specific group in real time.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add a targeted alert system that allows admins to send alerts to selected users or predefined groups. These alerts should:
Be admin-triggered (similar to system alerts)
Allow selection of individual users or groups
Play a unique notification tone separate from standard alert tones
Override normal channel alert settings for recipients
Optionally include a label (ex: “Dispatch Alert”)
Describe alternatives you've considered
Currently using external apps to notify freelancers directly, but this splits communication across platforms and slows things down. Another workaround is asking users to enable all alerts, but that’s not practical and leads to alert fatigue.
Additional context
This would act as a built-in dispatch tool for situations where speed matters and only a select group needs to be notified. It builds off existing system alert functionality but adds precision and control.
